The most popular instrument in America is the piano! Hearing a beautiful song on the piano
is enjoyable. Wouldn't it be wonderful to play the piano yourself? Many adults and children
have successfully learned to play the piano. You can too!
But what if I am a beginner?
Most of our students started with us as beginners. We understand beginning students (both adult
and children). We start with the "basic basics".
At your first lesson . . .
♪ We describe the piano keyboard in simple terms.
♪ Then we describe the music staff, again, in simple terms.
♪ Then we have you place your hands on the keyboard and begin playing your first few songs.
Most students find it fun and exhilarating! We like to say, “Playing the piano is more
fun than than playing a video game!” By the time you are done with your first lesson, you
will have played 3 to 5 songs, some students more.
Why have a piano teacher?
The skill of playing the piano is the skill of doing more than one thing at the same
time. A piano instructor speeds your learning by "doing some of the thinking for you." For
example, the teacher can help you with the timing by counting for you, while you are
concentrating on the notes. At any level, beginning, intermediate or advanced, there are
always multiple things to think about at the same time. The piano coach is on your
“team” to help you learn faster.
Advanced students
Advanced students play the music of classical composers like Beethoven,
Bach, Mozart and Chopin. If your goal is to win a music scholarship at a college,
we have the expertise to help you with your goals.
Performances
Our performances have been held at Amy's Mexican Restaurant and the Cocky Bull
Restaurant. The recitals were well attended and a lot of fun. It is exciting
for students to perform for their family and friends. Plus they gain poise and
self-confidence by peforming in public.
And they have all done a good job! Here are some pictures.
